Thanks for being a member of my traffic and conversion sites.
Are free traffic sites doomed? I don't think so and let me tell you why.
Is you listen to the "doom and gloom" that you often hear on social media regarding our industry, then you constantly hear that the sky is falling. People having problems with PayPal (been there). People questioning whether the free traffic model is sustainable (it is). Some site shutting down because the owners aren't making enough money (sorry).
It is not my intention to make light of the problems that people may be going through. I understand that when the "crap hits the fan" it is a struggle to keep positive. However, as someone who has been in this business for almost 20 years, I have seen it all before.
Some sites will go out of business. Some sites will reinvent themselves. Some sites will keep chugging on. Change is a part of life and some owners will adapt and others won't.
The need for free and low cost traffic sources will actually GROW over the coming years, not shrink. This will be true for the sites where the owners focus on delivering the highest quality traffic possible. Traffic from people who are actually paying attention.
Many thought that sites like Facebook would be the end of the free traffic sites. It hasn't been. It is still easier to get free traffic from a safelist than it is to get free traffic from social media. Recent changes at Facebook have made getting anything for free even more difficult.
Yes, paid traffic from Facebook is great ... if you know how to target it and optimize a funnel. The problem is that if you are using paid traffic to learn how to market and sell, then you run out of money fast. Paid traffic is getting more expensive by the day.
This means that for the beginning marketer who needs to start for free or with small investments, the paid traffic world is out of reach. They need to generate free traffic and use that to learn the ropes, optimize their marketing, and create a funnel that converts. Once you have that in place, then you can take the step up to paid traffic.
You build and test your systems with free traffic, and then scale up with paid traffic once you have figured it out.
This means that there will always be a need and demand for safelists and other low cost traffic sources. In fact, I am betting on it.
